In 2008, Route 66 Moving was founded by Nick and Mike, two friends and experienced California movers. They initially opened two offices: one in San Francisco and another in San Diego. Later, operations expanded to Los Angeles. From the very beginning, Route 66 Moving focused on providing intrastate long-distance moving services.
In 2017, the San Francisco location, run by Nick, began operating independently from the Los Angeles and San Diego locations. The owner of the Los Angeles and San Diego locations exited the moving business in 2022. As of 2024, the San Francisco location is still being operated by one of the original founder of Route 66 Moving in San Francisco - Nick.
